December Reflections
Dear friend,
I like to think of my readers as friends. Even though distance separates us, our connection empowers me.
Hope you are excited about the upcoming holidays! Can’t believe it is already that time of year again. December always makes me reflect about the past twelve months.
Events from the past year have made me realize that life goes by really quickly. Time passes, and one day people are present in your life; the next day, all you have left are the presents they left (i.e., memories, stories, and photographs).
It makes my heart hurt that I can never go back to those moments again. But those loved ones are not forgotten; their lessons and experiences will live on in me. The time we spent together left footprints on my heart.
One of the most important lessons I have learned is that you should cherish each moment in life; once something is gone, it may not come back.
In the past, I would let things go because I thought I would have more time. Now, I cherish each moment and live life so I don’t have regrets. You never know when your last hug will be with someone for a long time.
Before, I never really thought about death. But after you experience others losing their lives, you realize what matters in life and where to focus your energy.
You have only one life. No one knows how long they will be on earth.
I want to leave a legacy.
I want to share my experiences. I will write out my random thoughts and precious moments and share them so my friends around the world can read them. That way, I will still be connected to those who mean so much to me even when they are not physically present near me. Writing provides my soul with nourishment.
You know when your stomach is hungry because you haven’t eaten for a while? Sometimes if you don’t listen to it and don’t nourish it – your stomach will start to hurt, and will make noises that you have to listen to. The stomach noises become so loud that you must stop and take action! (Funny, eh!?!)
Well, this year I feel like that is happening to me in terms of my true authentic voice. It wants to speak and share with others. My inner voice is trying hard to be heard; it keeps making noise so that I will listen to it. Therefore, by writing and sharing; I am nourished and strengthened.
Strengthening our souls, using our voices, and nourishing our authentic selves are as essential to living a healthy life as eating is.
Since I love sharing with others, I am passing this knowledge on to you. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends!
What life lessons have you learned over the past year?!
