This past weekend, while looking at some photos, I realized there are common activities my sisters and I tend to engage in when we travel anywhere. Usually at the beach, after dipping our feet in the water, we make a mark in the sand and take a picture of it. I have a tendency to write the name of the city I am in followed by the year visited. Have a look at a few examples of imprints I have made over the years:
Read MoreHow do you connect with people who seem out of reach?
After writing the post last week, I have gotten inquiries about how a person can begin being seen and making their presence known. I get asked this question regularly, as I have connected with beautiful people from around the world. With all of them, we started as strangers; through developing the courage to express our thoughts, we built a connection.
Read MoreEach day since the beginning of time, the sun has risen from the darkness to the highest point in the sky for all to see. This summer, the early morning rays of the dawn have been waking me up as the sun rises to brighten the day. It seems the beams are at peak brightness, waking me up and causing me to pay attention to them. The sun doesn’t care if you aren’t ready to wake up, or if you dislike the intensity – it keeps its brightness – it keeps shining – it wants to be seen! We can all learn a lot from this notion.

Inspiration can come from anywhere. Personally, other than deep conversations with others and beautiful surroundings, I use visual aides to encourage me. I love taking personal pictures and adding inspiring quotes to them. I think you will love this one about perseverance that I made yesterday!

Sometimes it takes awhile to see the most obvious thing that has been there throughout our whole journey. We focus so much on the details and not on the bigger picture; hence why I had been stumped on my friend's question. I reflected, dug deeper, and after some serious thought, discovered what the common element was.
I am an expert in coping with transition. Not only had I experienced a lot of transition personally, I counsel individuals and organizations on how to improve (change is a huge element of this).

When people are looking for inspiration, instead of only going outward to others for answers, dig deep and look within. Write your posts as if you are speaking from your heart. Remember, people are coming to your blog to connect with you and hear your thoughts. Blogging is a conversation where you start talking and people respond.
Read MoreIs there a common theme to the life lessons you are learning lately? I find that when I’m being taught something important, the message is usually repeated in different situations throughout my life. That way, I’ll pay attention – even if I don’t want to!
This happened recently at a personal development seminar where I was a participant. We were asked to list personal obstacles in our life journeys. Like a reflex, I wrote down ‘COURAGE’ and circled it. Though I didn’t understand why this word mattered to me, I was soon to get inklings.
Participants were asked to discuss the meaning behind what they had written down with others close by. We helped one another; I was shown that my ‘courage’ meant developing the strength to speak my story on a general level.
Read MoreAloha! I’m back. Hope you all had a great couple of weeks. I had a refreshing vacation in Maui.
If you want to get inspired, you should visit the Hawaiian Islands. They have changed my life; they may change yours. We all have places that empower us. The Hawaiian Islands do this for me. Maui has a special place in my heart; it is where I originally came up with the idea for my blog. So, I thought I should use my holiday as a chance to reflect on my blog, past and present.
Read MoreWhen you travel, the focus is on the destination. Travel guides draw you in with the sites you will see and what you will experience when you are visiting the new places. But for me, the highlights of any adventure I have ever been on, are the beautiful heart-felt connections you will develop with the people on your journey.
The people you meet along the way make the experience. I thought I needed to go to all these amazing places throughout the world to see the sites. What my soul craves, though, is to go meet new people and to build connections with them. Those are my most precious moments and souvenirs from travelling. The memories/lessons learned from these connections are what I cherish most.
Read MoreOn a walk this past weekend and seeing all the beauty that surrounded me, I started to think about my blog. The “random” thoughts going through my head centred around how can I make my site a better foundation for all of us to grow.
This spring shouldn’t just be a time for flowers to reach their full potential; we should take their cue that it is our time to rise up.
Instead of looking to myself for the answers, I am reaching out and asking for your input; we are on this journey together. You are a vital part of this community and your “random” thoughts matter.

My favourite gifts to receive at Christmas, other than spending time with those I care about, are cards. I love hearing people's updates on their lives and the simple action of telling me that they care means a lot. It doesn't matter if the card comes in an email or paper format - the point is they sent it. I have a box of all the cards I have been sent over the years. They mean a lot to me.
Read MoreSomeone asked me "Who are your role models?", and to be honest, I had a hard time answering it. I couldn’t think of very many females of my generation (i.e., in their twenties) who I wanted to aspire to be like. The person who asked me the question was looking for examples of famous people.
I have had encounters with some famous people who I looked up to when I was a child, but when I met them in person years later, they were unfriendly and standoffish. I lost respect for them as the image they portray in the media is disconnected from the real version of themselves. There are many people that are the same onscreen as they are in person; those I respect and model after.
