A Penny For Your Thoughts

“What am I going to do with all my pennies?”

This thought crossed my mind while I was cleaning my room last weekend.  I have a cup full of pennies that I have been randomly collecting as spare change. The pennies just sit in a cup in my room occupying space.

I keep thinking I will spend them, but this hasn’t happened yet.

I’m running out of time, as pennies are being phased out in Canada and the Royal Canadian Mint isn’t creating any more. I guess I could keep one lucky one – but what am I going to do with the rest? I have a huge cup full of them.

It seems like a waste to just let the pennies sit there – I should put them to good use.  That is when I came up with this idea.

I am going to give my cup of pennies to someone or some organization in need!

You may think that 1 penny isn’t going to make a difference – but I have hundreds.  I counted mine and found out there were 403 in that cup.

1 Penny Vs. 100. Think of the difference you could make.

Now, I know that is only 4 dollars and 3 cents, which is very little. Heck, that is less than one speciality drink at Starbucks!

But what if every Canadian collected their pennies and gave them to a cause, think of the difference we would make!

If every 34,482,779 of us in Canada were to donate 100 pennies (i.e., 1 dollar) to the same organization, think of how much of an impact that would make!

I’m not saying we should all give our pennies to the same cause – donate them wherever you choose.  The point is: Give the pennies to somewhere that’s important to you.

You know how the saying goes: Pass a penny to a friend, your luck will never end!
