Stand Tall & Speak From The Heart
I'm excited to share this personal post with you about how I learned to embrace my body. I hope you enjoy it! Also, check out my interview with The Gold Zebra as I'm featured as blogger of the week starting today.
The journey to stand taller ( i.e., stand/walk tall means to be proud of yourself and confident of your abilities) started with a purchase. A few years ago, I bought the prettiest pair of high heels. The best part about them is they are four-inch heels. Now I know, you are probably thinking, “Arianna, WHY are you sharing your purchase with us?!”
Well, the reason is not the product itself but the significance behind this purchase. Dig deeper. What you may not know about me is that I’m a Tall Woman (6 feet).
With these heels on, I stand 6’4″, which is enormously tall for a woman. But I love the way I look with these heels on! I don’t care that they make me stand out in a crowd – I actually embrace it!
Hence, why this purchase is significant. I have, up until that point, only worn flats or a small heel, because I wanted to fit in.
But, I went for it and bought 4-inch heels. I love them. Tall women, join me, and put your heels on!!!However, I haven’t always embraced my height. I have over the years tried to downplay it in order to fit in. This was especially bad in high school, when I was at the awkward stage.
I have been 6 feet tall since I was about twelve-years-old. My height is one of the first things people notice about me. Many of the other girls in my school were around four-inches shorter, so I felt like an outlier. It was then that I developed the bad habit of slouching and improper posture.
I realized a little while later that my blending in with the others was bad for my health and body (literally), so I stopped slouching and started Standing Tall.
It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Embrace your differences; they are what make you unique. Don’t be afraid of standing out! “You were born an original; Don’t die a copy.” – John Mason
The purchase of those 4-inch heels inspired me to reach new heights in many ways. Not only did I embrace my body, I also learned to cherish my inner voice. I'm now embracing my story by sharing it with others. I’m excited to announce that my first book “Stand Tall & Speak From The Heart: How to Find Your Way” will be released Feb. 1st.
The book is about finding the courage to be real with others and yourself through standing tall and speaking from the heart. “Stand Tall & Speak from Your Heart: How to Find Your Way” is based on my personal journey. A good friend once told me that when you share your story with others, it gives them permission to do the same. I have kept that lesson with me. Therefore, through telling others about the obstacles I have overcome in my life, my aim of my book is to encourage others that it’s okay to be vulnerable and share your story with others.
Do you think it is important to stand tall and speak from the heart? If so, why?
