Zach Sobiech: Your Legacy Will Live On!

As you know, I love sharing stories of people who have impacted my journey.  I was saddened to find out that a beautiful soul, Zach Sobiech, lost his battle to cancer yesterday.  Zach was only 18 years old when he died but in his short time he embraced life to the fullest.  His passion for life, love of others, and contagious joy touched my heart as well as those of many others. His legacy will live on.  As Zach said in his documentary, "It's really simple, actually, just try to make people happy."

Zach truly celebrated his life.  I'm so glad SoulPancake did a documentary of his story called My Last Days: Meet Zach Sobiech . Thank you!  In case you haven't seen it yet, watch Zach tell you about his life below.  Prepare to have a box of Kleenex on hand.

Zach was wise beyond his years.  Early on in the video, he mentioned that teenagers feel invincible and those words struck a chord with me.  I think many of us, regardless of age, see ourselves as invincible.  So often, you can feel like you have so much time ahead of you so you don't truly live in the present.  I used to be guilty of thinking that death was far off so I have tons of time to do the things I would like to accomplish in life.  I needed to be reminded of the following words.

"You don't have to find out you are dying to start living!" - Zach Sobiech.

Life lessons can be learned everywhere.  Today, I encourage you to hear Zach's story and let his words touch your heart.  Let's keep his honour his legacy by sharing his story with others.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends who have lost their loved one. RIP Zach. Keep watching over all of us in the clouds.

What life lessons did you learn from Zach? I'd love to know.
