No Plan, No Problem!

Have you ever hiked up a mountain? Or driven up one?

It honestly doesn't matter how you got there (although, hiking is way more fun); there are many routes to the top. As a recent graduate, I feel there are many ways for me to get to the top of my personal mountain (i.e., achieving what my goals are in life).

I don't know if you have ever felt this way, but I find I get this question A LOT lately.   People will ask me what my next step is or ask what my plan is, as if I have my whole life planned out.

I know generally what I would like to do and have goals, but I have no idea if my life is going to go that way.

I have encountered a few people who can't do anything without a plan.   They can't just get into a car and drive without knowing all of their destinations.  They have to specifically plan out all aspects of their life.

These individuals have to control everything about their plan, even the tiny minute details.

However, life isn't static and will throw you curveballs at many points in the road.

I used to be somewhat of a planner.  Up until second year university, I thought I wanted to become a medical doctor.   However, after two years of pre-med I realized that being a doctor wasn't for me.  I was far more interested in psychology.  I now have my Master's degree in Psychology.

If you asked me ten years ago if this is where I saw myself today, I probably would have said "no".

Honestly, I thought by the time I reached twenty-five I would be married and have a few kids.  That is not the case.  I'm actually okay with that. I know it will happen when it's the right time for me.

Welcome to adulthood!

I have general goals for my life that would be nice to achieve.  If I do, that is great; if not, that is okay too.  I will still be happy with myself.

Where I grew up, it was expected for us to follow the norm (i.e., similar paths); you were supposed to go through life checking off points on your checklist.

I showed this video in a previous blog,  it is all about life following a schedule.

However, life doesn't always go this way.  I am not about following this traditional schedule.  If things do not happen for me exactly in this sequence, I am okay with that.

I used to set up schedules for what I would like to achieve in life, but now I have realized that I should be open to new as well as existing possibilities.

Life is a big adventure and I'm excited to see where I go.  I plan to enjoy every step.

To those who ask me what my plan is, my new answer for them is "I HAVE INFINITE POSSIBILITIES."  I think that sounds better than not sure :P
