Thought of the day: Count your blessings, not your losses!

"Do you ever feel like you are missing something in your life? If so, do you consistently focus on that loss to the point where you forget about all the other things that you do have in your life? How do you not let that loss become the focus of your life? How do you switch from focusing on the negative to the positive?"

(c) Arianna's Random Thoughts

These are questions that were on my mind this morning as I had my cup of coffee.  Lately,  for example, when conversing with people, I am constantly told about what they are missing from their lives .  A main theme seems to be: why am I single? Or, why don't I have a boyfriend/girlfriend?

I know that it is nice to have someone to share your life with, but you should try not to let that loss control your life.  If you focus too much on what you are "lacking," it may lead to depression  and an unhealthy self-worth.  If you are constantly focusing on the fact that you are single, unhealthy ideas like "No one likes me,"  "I am not attractive enough," and "What is wrong with me?" will overtake your brain.  If you think such thoughts long enough, you will eventually think there is something wrong with you when in fact that is not the case.  Perhaps, the timing is not right for you or  you have not found the right person yet.

Therefore, my message of the day is to count your blessings and not your losses.  The lack of relationship is just an example of something you may be missing in your life.  However,  by focusing on the positive and all the things you do have in your life, you will be making sure that things keep getting better for you!  Keep the positive in your sight lines. That way, the negative will fade out of the picture.

Perhaps when you are working on improving yourself, love will appear.  You should try joining a new social group (for example, a sport).
